CORRIDOR NOTES

What This Route Changes.

Distances and drive times are planning estimates. Exact access, timing and delivery details are confirmed for each address before the move.

Yuba City sits about 1,810 miles from Austin, and Murdock’s Moving & Storage runs the entire route as the licensed, owner-operated carrier on the job. The truck departs Austin on I-35 south to San Antonio, joins I-10 west across the deserts of West Texas, southern New Mexico and Arizona through El Paso, Tucson and Phoenix, then crosses into California and turns up I-5 through the San Joaquin Valley. North of Sacramento the driver peels off onto Highway 99, following the Feather River country up into the Yuba-Sutter area.

This is one truck and one crew from start to finish. Because we hold our own DOT and CPUC authority and never hand your shipment to a broker or line-haul partner, nothing gets cross-docked or reloaded between Austin and Yuba City. A move of this distance realistically takes three to four days in transit, and the flat-rate price we quote in Austin is the price you pay on delivery day in Yuba City.

DESTINATION BRIEF

Arriving in Yuba City.

  • Some of the most affordable housing in the entire Sacramento Valley, with single-family homes and yards well below Bay Area or coastal California prices
  • A slower, family-friendly small-town pace surrounded by open farm country and the Sutter Buttes
  • Close enough to Sacramento, about 40 minutes south, for commuting, big-box shopping and an international airport
  • Ties to Beale Air Force Base, which routinely brings service members and their families into the Yuba-Sutter area
  • Room to spread out for gardening, hobbies or larger households at a lower cost of living than most of California

Yuba City anchors the Yuba-Sutter region, a stretch of Sacramento Valley farm country where orchards, rice fields and the Sutter Buttes define the landscape rather than freeways and high-rises. For someone leaving Austin, the appeal is affordability and space: Yuba City offers some of the lowest housing costs in the greater Sacramento Valley while still sitting about 40 minutes from downtown Sacramento for big-city needs. This is agricultural country, home to a large Punjabi-American community and one of the biggest Sikh festivals in the country each fall.

Housing tends toward single-family homes with real yards, and newer subdivisions on the north and east sides of town give families room to spread out. Established neighborhoods near downtown Yuba City, across the Feather River in Marysville, and out toward Plumas Lakes and Sutter offer a quieter, small-town pace. Nearby Beale Air Force Base also brings a steady stream of military families into the area, so relocation and move-ins are a normal part of local life.

A Murdock’s delivery in Yuba City usually means suburban streets and garage-level access rather than the tight urban parking of a big metro, which keeps the unload straightforward. Whether you land in a new build off Highway 99 or an older home near the river, the same crew that packed you in Austin carries it in.
