WHAT THIS SERVICE COVERS
Murdock’s Moving & Storage runs professionally managed warehouse space out of our own staffed yards at 1160 Eaton Rd in Chico and 929 Garden Hwy in Yuba City — not a rented unit down the hall from a franchise counter. That means the crew that inventories, wraps, and racks your load is the same crew that picks it up and sets it back down, whether you're bridging a gap between a Chico sale and a Roseville closing or clearing a house in Sacramento for a remodel.
A lot of what we store never touches a self-storage aisle at all — it's storage-in-transit. When a long-distance move under our own USDOT 3421940 and MC 1416634 authority can't line up a same-day pickup and delivery (a Bay Area family selling ahead of their next closing, a household headed out of state on a tight relocation window), we hold the shipment securely at the yard and redeliver on your schedule instead of forcing you into a rushed, one-day move.
We also see storage needs the ag and foothill economy generates that a generic storage brand never plans for: equipment dealers and orchard or rice-operation offices around Sutter, Yuba, Butte, Glenn, and Colusa counties needing overflow space between seasons, and contractors staging materials for jobs up toward Oroville and the Sierra foothills where narrow rural roads rule out a standard box truck. Our trucks and crews already run those routes for moving jobs, so pickup and redelivery for storage customers out there isn't a special case — it's Tuesday.
THE WORK / NOT THE SALES PITCH
Our own crews run storage out of the Chico (1160 Eaton Rd) and Yuba City (929 Garden Hwy) yards — the people who inventory your load are the same ones who redeliver it.
When pickup and delivery dates on an interstate or cross-valley move can't align, we hold your shipment under our own USDOT/MC authority and redeliver when you're ready.
A few weeks between a Chico sale and a Sacramento closing, or a season through a remodel or rebuild — terms flex to the move, not the other way around.
Chico and Yuba City routinely hit triple digits June through September; we account for that when placing wood furniture, electronics, and finish-sensitive items.
Round-the-clock surveillance and restricted access at both yards, with verified insurance coverage backing every item on the rack.
Every box and piece is logged at intake so you can request a specific item back without unstacking a whole unit.
MOVE SEQUENCE
Tell us what you're storing, roughly how much space it needs, and whether this is standalone storage or storage-in-transit tied to a move.
We scope the load — residential, commercial, or ag/contractor equipment — and flag anything that needs special handling or climate awareness.
Our crews wrap, load, and haul your items to the Chico or Yuba City yard, logging each piece into inventory as it's racked.
Items stay secure until you need them — pull one piece early or schedule full redelivery anywhere across the Sacramento Valley.
BUILD THE REST OF THE MOVE
Storage-in-transit is short-term secure storage of your shipment between pickup and final delivery on a move, and you need it whenever your old and new dates don't line up — a Bay Area family selling before their next home closes, or an interstate move with a delivery window that lands before the new place is ready. Because Murdock’s operates under its own USDOT 3421940 and MC 1416634 authority, we hold your shipment at our Chico or Yuba City yard and redeliver it on your timeline instead of forcing everything into one rigid moving day.
Yes — we place items with valley summers in mind, since Chico and Yuba City regularly hit triple digits from June through September. Wood furniture, electronics, instruments, and finish-sensitive pieces get positioned accordingly inside our monitored facilities so heat cycling doesn't do the damage a standard unit assignment would risk.
Yes — households working through a rebuild in Paradise, Oroville, or other foothill communities can store belongings with us on a flexible, extendable term with no set end date required upfront. We keep the process straightforward and low-pressure since a rebuild timeline is unpredictable enough already.
Yes — Murdock’s carries verified insurance coverage and every crew member handling your items is licensed and insured, on top of the item-level inventory we log at intake so there's a clear record of what came in and what goes back out.
Yes — we regularly store office furniture, records, retail overflow inventory, and ag or contractor equipment for businesses across Sutter, Yuba, Butte, Glenn, and Colusa counties, alongside standard household storage. One warehouse, residential and commercial customers side by side.
Yes — we serve Sacramento and Roseville storage customers with pickup and redelivery run out of our Yuba City yard, the same way we cover Oroville and the rest of the Sacramento Valley, even though our staffed facilities sit in Chico and Yuba City.
Storage is quoted based on your item volume, unit size, and how long you'll need the space, so pricing varies by situation rather than a flat public rate — call (530) 804-5893 for a quote, or use our moving cost calculator at /moving-cost-calculator/ if storage is tied to a larger move.
