PRICING
Transparent pricing information
Do you offer move quotes?
Yes — every quote is free with no obligation. Call (530) 804-5893 or request a quote online and we'll walk through your move details, timing, and any specialty items. Most quotes are finalized over the phone or with a quick virtual walkthrough, and a senior estimator handles each one personally.
How does Murdock’s price a move?
Local moves are billed hourly based on crew size and truck size, and the rate includes the crew, the truck, and all protective materials (pads, blankets, floor runners, shrink wrap). Long-distance and interstate moves are billed at a flat rate based on weight, mileage, and access. Either way you get a clear number up front — charges explained before move day and charges explained in the written quote.
PROTECTION
Protection for your belongings
How are my belongings protected during the move?
Every move includes professional padding, moving blankets, stretch wrap, floor runners, and door protection at no extra charge, and we carry cargo and liability coverage backed by verified insurance coverage. For added peace of mind on high-value moves, ask about full-value protection options when you book.
BOOKING
Booking and payment details
How far in advance should I book my move?
Book 3 to 5 weeks out for the best crew and date selection, and sooner for summer (June–August), end-of-month, and weekend dates, which fill first. That said, we handle same-week and last-minute moves whenever we have crew availability — call (530) 804-5893 and we’ll tell you what’s open.
MOVE DAY
Move day preparation
How do you handle moves during Sacramento Valley summer heat?
We schedule residential moves for early-morning starts from June through September, when Valley temperatures routinely top 100°F by early afternoon. Loading before the heat peaks protects both your belongings and the crew, and it keeps the whole move on schedule.
Can Murdock’s pack for me?
Yes — we offer full packing, partial packing, and unpacking with premium materials, plus custom wood crating for art, antiques, electronics, and other fragile or high-value items. Full packing adds to the bill but typically cuts move-day time in half. You can estimate supplies with our packing calculator.
Can you move to a rural or foothill property with a long driveway?
Yes — our crews regularly stage trucks on gravel driveways, ag-country access roads, and steep foothill approaches around Oroville, Paradise, Auburn, and outlying Butte, Sutter, and Glenn County properties. We plan truck placement during the walkthrough, not on move day.
SPECIALTY
Special handling services
Does Murdock’s do long-distance and interstate moves?
Yes — Murdock’s runs interstate moves under our own authority (USDOT 3421940, MC 1416634), so your belongings stay with our crew rather than getting handed to a van line. We regularly move households from the Sacramento Valley to Nevada, Arizona, the Pacific Northwest, Texas, and beyond, with one flat, all-in price and no reweigh at delivery.
Do you offer storage if my move-in date doesn’t line up?
Yes — Murdock’s offers both portable MODS (Murdock’s On-Demand Storage) containers delivered to your door and secure professional warehouse storage at our yards. If your closing or move-in date slips, we can hold your belongings short- or long-term and redeliver when you're ready.
Do you move pianos, safes, and other specialty items?
Yes — our crews are trained and equipped to move pianos, gun safes, large safes, gym and exercise equipment, oversized antiques, and other specialty items. Let us know about any heavy or awkward piece during your quote so we bring the right crew and equipment.
Do you help with senior and downsizing moves?
Yes — senior and downsizing moves are one of our specialties. We work at a patient pace with sorting, packing, donation coordination, and setup at the destination, including moves into retirement communities and assisted-living facilities across the Sacramento Valley.
Do you handle commercial and office moves?
Yes — Murdock’s moves offices, retail, warehouses, and healthcare facilities across the Sacramento Valley, and we offer office furniture installation and reconfiguration. We plan around your business hours to minimize downtime.
TRUST
Choosing the right mover
Is Murdock’s Moving & Storage licensed and insured?
Yes. Murdock’s Moving & Storage is fully licensed and insured, operating under USDOT 3421940 and MC 1416634 with verified insurance coverage. We carry liability and cargo coverage on every move and can provide a certificate of insurance for any building, HOA, or property manager that requires one before move day.

POLICIES
Policies and restrictions
Are there items Murdock’s can’t move?
For safety and legal reasons we can’t transport hazardous materials such as propane tanks, gasoline, paint, aerosols, ammunition, or other flammables and corrosives. We’re also not able to move live plants or pets. We’re happy to advise on how to handle these before move day.
