CORRIDOR NOTES

What This Route Changes.

Distances and drive times are planning estimates. Exact access, timing and delivery details are confirmed for each address before the move.

Houston to Yuba City is a coast-to-valley haul, and Murdock’s Moving & Storage runs it on our own USDOT and CPUC authority from load-up to unload. Your shipment leaves Houston on I-10 West, crossing the length of Texas through San Antonio and El Paso before pushing across New Mexico and Arizona past Tucson and Phoenix. From the desert our driver climbs north toward the Central Valley, and the final stretch runs up through Sacramento into the Yuba-Sutter area. One truck, one crew, the whole way - there is no terminal transfer, no broker in the middle, and no moment when your belongings are pooled onto someone else's trailer.

At nearly two thousand miles this is a realistic four-to-six day transit once federal hours-of-service limits, desert weather and the grades into the Valley are accounted for. We schedule it as a single dedicated load rather than a shared shipment, so your delivery window is tied to your truck and not to a pooled trailer filling up. Because Murdock’s owns the equipment and staffs the crew in both directions, we can commit to a firm flat-rate quote and give you one point of contact from the day we wrap your furniture in Houston to the day we set it down in Yuba City.

DESTINATION BRIEF

Arriving in Yuba City.

  • Significantly more affordable housing than Sacramento or the Bay Area, with room to spread out
  • A quieter, family-oriented small-town and agricultural setting
  • Easy Highway 99 access to Sacramento for jobs, healthcare and big-city amenities
  • A steady military community and employment anchored by nearby Beale Air Force Base
  • Milder, drier summers than the humid Gulf Coast and no hurricane risk

Yuba City sits at the heart of the Yuba-Sutter region, an agricultural pocket of the Sacramento Valley known for peaches, prunes, walnuts and rice, with the Sutter Buttes - often called the world's smallest mountain range - rising just to the west. For someone leaving a metro like Houston, the draw is affordability and a quieter, family-oriented pace: home prices and cost of living here run well below Sacramento and far below the Bay Area, while the state capital is still an easy commute south down Highway 99 for work or big-city amenities.

Life in Yuba-Sutter centers on Yuba City and its twin across the Feather River, Marysville, with residential neighborhoods spreading through areas like Plumas Lake, Sutter, Live Oak and the growing suburbs off Highway 99. Nearby Beale Air Force Base anchors a steady military community, and many households are drawn by newer subdivisions with more square footage and yard than California's coastal metros offer. Most deliveries here are straightforward suburban or semi-rural unloads with easy truck access, though our crew is equally at home on the older streets of downtown Marysville.

Compared with Houston, Yuba City offers a small-town, agricultural setting with room to spread out and a much lower entry cost than most of California - a practical landing spot for families who want Northern California and Sacramento-region access without a big-city budget or big-city congestion.
