At roughly 1,722 miles, Sacramento to Kansas City is the shortest of Murdock’s Midwest long-haul lanes, and the route reflects that directness. Trucks head out on I-80 East through the Sierra, across the Nevada desert past Reno and Elko, through Salt Lake City, and over the high plains of southern Wyoming into western Nebraska. Rather than continuing all the way to Iowa, the Kansas City leg cuts south at Omaha onto I-29, following the Missouri River down through St. Joseph and directly into the Kansas City metro.

That Omaha turn shaves real time off the trip compared to the Chicago or Minneapolis lanes, which is part of why this is one of the faster long-haul deliveries we run out of Sacramento — typically 3 to 5 days door-to-door instead of the 4-to-6-day window on the longer Midwest routes.
