CORRIDOR NOTES
Distances and drive times are planning estimates. Exact access, timing and delivery details are confirmed for each address before the move.
Yuba City to Stockton is the shortest route Murdock’s runs in this guide — about 65 miles down Highway 99 through Sacramento and Elk Grove before reaching Stockton at the edge of the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. It's a straightforward drive, roughly 1.25 to 1.5 hours outside of Sacramento rush hour, with no mountain passes and minimal traffic complexity beyond the Highway 99/Highway 4 interchange on the Stockton approach.
Because the drive is short, most Yuba City to Stockton moves complete in a single morning or afternoon — load, drive, and deliver within a few hours of each other. That doesn't mean Murdock’s treats it as a minor job. We still run a full pre-move walkthrough, professional packing if requested, and the same flat-rate pricing structure we use on every route, so a short move doesn't come with a rushed crew or a bare-bones truck.
Murdock’s operates this route, like all our moves, under our own USDOT 3421940 and MC 1416634 authority — a dedicated Murdock’s crew handles your belongings from the Yuba City pickup to the Stockton delivery, with no subcontracted local carrier stepping in for the 'easy' short hop. Stockton is also a route our crews know from regular service in the broader Sacramento Valley and Delta region, so we're familiar with the city's mix of established Delta-adjacent neighborhoods and newer development on the north and west sides.

DESTINATION BRIEF
Stockton sits at the head of deep-water shipping access into the California Delta, and its neighborhoods range from historic waterfront to fast-growing suburban development. Brookside and Spanos Park, on the city's north side, are newer, master-planned communities with wider streets, attached garages, and easy truck access — a common landing spot for families relocating from Yuba City for more affordable new construction within striking distance of the Bay Area job market via I-205 and the Altamont Pass.
Lincoln Village, closer to the city center, offers an established, tree-lined character with a mix of home ages, popular with move-up buyers who want more space than a starter home without pushing all the way out to the newest subdivisions. Weston Ranch, in the city's south end, has grown quickly over the last decade and draws buyers specifically for newer housing stock at a price point well below the Bay Area.
Cost of living is the central driver behind most Stockton moves: housing here runs substantially below the Bay Area and even below Sacramento in many comparisons, which has made Stockton a landing spot for commuters willing to drive I-205 and I-580 toward Bay Area jobs in exchange for a bigger home and lower mortgage. The city's own economy centers on logistics and distribution — its port and rail access make it a major Central Valley shipping hub — along with healthcare and public sector employment tied to San Joaquin County government. Delta waterways and marina access around Stockton also draw people specifically for boating and water recreation that isn't available in landlocked Yuba City.
ROUTE BOARD
This is Murdock’s shortest regular route at about 65 miles and 1.25 to 1.5 hours of drive time. Most moves complete within a single morning or afternoon.
Yes. Murdock’s runs the same pre-move walkthrough, optional professional packing, and flat-rate pricing on a 65-mile Stockton move as on a cross-country haul — short distance doesn't mean a rushed job.
No. Murdock’s operates this route under our own USDOT 3421940 and MC 1416634 authority with a dedicated crew from pickup to delivery, no subcontracted local carrier.
Mostly cost of living and commute access — Stockton offers substantially lower housing costs than the Bay Area while still reaching Bay Area jobs via I-205 and I-580, along with growing logistics and healthcare employment locally.
Book 1 to 2 weeks out for most dates. Because it's a same-day route, Murdock’s can often accommodate shorter notice than our longer interstate-style hauls.
