CORRIDOR NOTES
Distances and drive times are planning estimates. Exact access, timing and delivery details are confirmed for each address before the move.
The Yuba City to Tucson lane is the longest of our Arizona routes, and Murdock’s runs it start to finish on our own interstate authority (USDOT# 3421940, MC# 1416634) — one crew loads your home in Yuba City, and that same truck carries it all the way to your new door in Tucson.
We leave the Sacramento Valley on I-5 South, run the Central Valley through Stockton and Bakersfield, then climb Tehachapi Pass on CA-58 East into Barstow. I-40 East carries the load across the Mojave through Needles into Kingman, Arizona, where we pick up US-93 South through Wickenburg into the Phoenix Valley. From there, rather than stopping, we continue on I-10 East through Tempe, Chandler, and Casa Grande for the final leg down into Tucson — about 912 miles and 13-14 hours behind the wheel.
Because Tucson sits roughly two hours past Phoenix, this is a route where a single-carrier setup pays off most: your shipment doesn't sit in a Phoenix warehouse waiting for a second truck or a different crew to finish the last leg. It stays on our trailer, with our people, the entire way south.
Most Yuba City to Tucson moves run a 2-4 day door-to-door window depending on load size and whether we're combining your shipment with another delivery on the same corridor. We build the extra drive time and any monsoon-season weather buffer into your scheduled window up front, so the date we confirm is the date you can plan around.

DESTINATION BRIEF
Tucson draws a different crowd than Phoenix — retirees, University of Arizona faculty and staff, and remote workers looking for a slower-paced desert city with mountain views on every side and a lower cost of living than even Phoenix carries. Sitting at roughly 2,600 feet, Tucson also runs a few degrees cooler than the Valley in summer, which matters to a lot of people moving from the milder Sacramento Valley climate.
The Catalina Foothills, on the north side against the Santa Catalina Mountains, is Tucson's premier address — custom homes on larger desert lots, low-density streets, and some of the best sunset views in the metro. Closer to the University, Sam Hughes and Armory Park offer walkable, historic bungalow and territorial-style housing with narrower streets and older driveways that our crew plans around during loading. Oro Valley and Marana, to the northwest, have become the go-to for newer-construction retirement and golf communities, many gated with specific move-in scheduling windows. Sahuarita and Vail, south and southeast of the city, draw growing families to newer subdivisions at a lower price point.
Tucson's cost of living runs below both Sacramento and Phoenix on housing specifically, which is a big part of its draw for retirees on a fixed income. The trade-offs our crews plan for: narrow historic streets in Sam Hughes and downtown, gated community access codes in Oro Valley, and July-through-September monsoon storms that can roll through fast and affect same-day delivery timing.
Yuba City to Tucson is about 912 miles, roughly 13-14 hours of drive time. Most moves take 2-4 days door-to-door including load day in Yuba City and the extended transit down through Phoenix to Tucson.
The same truck and crew that load in Yuba City continue past Phoenix straight into Tucson. Murdock’s operates this full route under our own USDOT# 3421940 and MC# 1416634 authority, so there's no handoff, no warehouse stopover, and no second carrier.
We run I-5 South and CA-58 East to Barstow, I-40 East across the Mojave to Kingman, then US-93 South and I-10 East through the Phoenix Valley into Tucson — the most direct interstate path for this corridor.
Book 4-6 weeks out given the longer transit distance and monsoon-season scheduling considerations in summer. Earlier booking gives you first choice of pickup dates, especially June through September.
We plan around Arizona's July-through-September monsoon season by building weather buffers into the delivery window, since Tucson-area storms can move in fast and affect same-day road conditions on I-10.
