Chico → Scottsdale. One Move Plan.

Chico to Scottsdale covers about 860 miles, roughly 15 miles farther than our Phoenix run since Scottsdale sits on the northeast side of the Valley.

The corridor out of Chico follows the same CA-99 South to I-5 South route through the Central Valley and over the Tejon Pass, then east on I-10 through the Inland Empire and the Colorado River crossing at Blythe into Arizona. Once the truck reaches the Phoenix Valley, instead of stopping in the West or Central Valley, we continue on Loop 101 (the Pima Freeway) up through Tempe and past Sky Harbor to reach Scottsdale's grid, whether the delivery is Old Town, the Shea corridor, or one of the gated communities pushing into North Scottsdale near the McDowell Mountains.

Scottsdale's newer construction — DC Ranch, Grayhawk, Troon North — sits at higher elevation on the edge of the Sonoran Desert, and access roads there are often gated or HOA-controlled, so we confirm gate codes and any move-in windows with the community before the truck leaves Chico.

Door-to-door timing on the Chico-Scottsdale lane typically runs 2 to 4 days, in line with our other Phoenix Valley routes, with exact dates locked in once your pickup is scheduled.

Scottsdale is the affluent, resort-anchored edge of the Phoenix Valley, and the neighborhoods households moving here from Chico consider vary sharply by price point and lifestyle. Old Town Scottsdale is the walkable, urban core — converted bungalows and new mid-rise condos within blocks of galleries, restaurants, and the Waterfront district. Just north, McCormick Ranch and Gainey Ranch offer 1980s-and-90s golf-course living around man-made lakes, popular with buyers moving up from a starter home.

Further north, DC Ranch and Grayhawk are master-planned, higher-end communities — larger lots, mountain views of the McDowells, and HOA amenities that read more like a resort than a neighborhood. Push to the far north end and Troon North represents Scottsdale's top tier: custom desert architecture, private golf, and some of the highest per-square-foot pricing in the entire Valley.

Scottsdale runs meaningfully more expensive than the rest of the Phoenix metro. Buyers moving from the Bay Area or Sacramento sometimes find pricing comparable to what they left, while buyers from more affordable parts of California see real sticker shock.

What movers face here specifically: nearly every North Scottsdale community past Shea Boulevard is gated or HOA-managed, and many require advance registration of the moving truck and crew before they're let past the gate; Old Town's condo and townhome buildings frequently require a loading dock reservation and a certificate of insurance; and from June through September, midday desert heat routinely exceeds 105°F against very little shade on newer North Scottsdale streets, so we push delivery times to the early morning whenever possible.
