CORRIDOR NOTES
Distances and drive times are planning estimates. Exact access, timing and delivery details are confirmed for each address before the move.
The haul from Las Vegas to Chico is roughly 585 miles and about 9-10 hours behind the wheel. Our crew rolls out of the valley on I-15 North through Barstow, climbs over the Tehachapi Pass on CA-58 West, and drops into the southern San Joaquin near Bakersfield. From there it's a long, steady run north on CA-99 through Fresno, Modesto and Sacramento before the final stretch up to Chico at the top of the valley. Because Murdock’s is an owner-operated carrier and not a broker, the same truck and the same crew that wrap your furniture in Las Vegas are the ones who carry it the whole way and unload it in Butte County.
We move this corridor on our own USDOT and CPUC authority, so your shipment is never handed off to a partner van line or consolidated with strangers' boxes at a warehouse dock. You get one flat-rate quote and one point of contact from load day to delivery. On a 585-mile job we typically plan a 3-5 day window depending on load size and your preferred delivery date, and we keep you updated on the truck's progress so you know exactly when to expect us at your new Chico address.

DESTINATION BRIEF
Chico is Northern California's classic college town, anchored by California State University, Chico and a genuinely walkable downtown of brick storefronts, coffee houses and breweries like Sierra Nevada. After the transience of the Strip, a lot of newcomers are struck by how much slower and greener life feels here. The crown jewel is Bidwell Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the country, running from downtown up into the foothills with swimming holes on Big Chico Creek, oak-shaded trails and Sycamore Pool at One-Mile.
Most moves into Chico land in leafy, established neighborhoods: The Avenues near the university, the Barber and Chapman districts closer to downtown, or newer subdivisions out toward east Chico and Cal Park. Just up the ridge, Paradise and the surrounding foothill communities have been rebuilding since the 2018 Camp Fire, and there is active new housing as the area recovers. Compared to a Las Vegas master-planned suburb, Chico lots tend to have mature trees and older homes with character, so our crews come ready for stairs, narrow driveways and tight tree-lined streets.
The move itself usually means delivering into a mix of single-family homes and student-adjacent rentals, and we handle the disassembly and reassembly of beds, desks and dining sets on both ends. Chico's downtown, Thursday Night Market and easy access to Lassen and the northern Sierra make it a favorite for families and remote workers who want a smaller, outdoorsy home base in the Sacramento Valley.
