LOCAL MOVE BRIEF

What Changes the Plan in Natomas.

Every address is different. Access, parking, stairs, weather and timing shape the crew and equipment more than a city name alone.

01

Natomas sits behind a levee system upgraded after the 2004-era flood-risk downgrade, and many newer homes were built to updated flood-zone standards — HOAs here are active about move-day rules for trucks and dumpsters

02

New-construction subdivisions in North Natomas mean tract homes with three-car garages and HOA-regulated move windows, sometimes requiring advance notice to the community office

03

South Natomas apartment and condo complexes near the airport draw relocating professionals and military-adjacent families needing fast turnarounds close to Sacramento International Airport

04

Elkhorn Boulevard and Truxel Road corridors are still actively under development, so GPS and delivery apps sometimes lag new street layouts

ACCESS / HOME TYPE / CREW PLAN

Addresses We Plan Around.

  • Modern three- and four-bedroom tract homes with two- and three-car garages in North Natomas subdivisions like Westshore and Bridgeway Lakes
  • Mid-rise apartment and condo communities in South Natomas near the airport corridor
  • Townhome developments in Natomas Park and Natomas Crossing
  • Light-industrial and logistics space in business parks near Sacramento International Airport

Before moving day

  • Check your HOA's move-day policy before booking — many North Natomas communities require advance notice or restrict truck parking hours
  • Confirm your new address with the movers directly rather than relying solely on GPS in fast-developing corridors like Elkhorn Boulevard and Truxel Road
  • If you're moving into a home near the airport corridor, ask about noise and access timing for early-morning or late-evening loads
  • New-construction homes with wide driveways and multi-car garages generally make for faster, easier truck access than older Sacramento neighborhoods

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Natomas Moving Questions.

See All FAQs
Are Natomas homes generally easier to move than older Sacramento neighborhoods?

Yes — most North Natomas homes were built from the 1990s onward with wider driveways and attached two-car garages, so our trucks park directly at the curb or driveway without the shuttle staging that older grid neighborhoods sometimes require.

Does my Natomas HOA need anything from the moving company?

Many North Natomas communities, including Westlake and Bridgeway Lakes, require advance notice and sometimes a certificate of insurance for a moving truck using shared streets or guest parking. Murdock’s carries verified insurance coverage and sends the COI to your HOA management ahead of time so it doesn't hold up your reservation.

Does Natomas' levee-protected flood zone affect a move?

It doesn't change how we move you, but Natomas does sit behind levees in a mapped flood zone, which sometimes affects insurance requirements on items stored directly on garage floors. Worth checking with your insurer, though it has no bearing on how we load or handle your belongings.

How close is Natomas to Sacramento International Airport, and does that matter?

It matters for timing — many Natomas moves are tied to relocation flights just minutes away at SMF. We build flight-adjacent scheduling into the estimate, with early load-in or late drop-off, so you're not racing a flight time on move day.

Are Natomas moves mostly local, or do they connect to your other service areas?

Both — Natomas is one of our steadiest Sacramento pockets, and since it sits along I-5 and I-80, it's also a common stop for moves connecting to Chico, Yuba City, or Woodland. One crew and one truck handle the whole route, no transfer.

What time of year sees the most Natomas moves?

Summer, tied to the Natomas Unified school calendar — families try to land before the new school year starts in August, so June and July book out fastest of any Sacramento-area window we serve.
