Sacramento → Redding. One Move Plan.

Sacramento to Redding runs 162 miles straight up Interstate 5 North, through the upper Sacramento Valley and past Red Bluff and Anderson before reaching the northern anchor of Shasta County, with Mount Shasta and the Cascade foothills visible on a clear day. It's the reverse direction of our Phoenix and Southern California lanes — instead of desert or coastal sprawl, this route heads into Northern California's more rural, outdoor-oriented landscape, and the delivery side of the job looks different because of it.

Redding and the surrounding Shasta Lake and Anderson communities favor larger lots, rural acreage, and properties with longer or gravel driveways rather than dense urban parking challenges — which means our planning here focuses less on permits and elevators and more on confirming rural address access, gate codes for properties along Shasta Lake, and whether a full-size semi can navigate a long private driveway or needs to stage from the road. Palo Cedro, east of Redding, is a good example — larger parcels, some with horse property, where road access needs a phone call ahead of delivery day rather than a building management office.

Redding is one of our more flexible destinations on scheduling, since I-5 North rarely sees the traffic congestion of our southbound routes — which means tighter, more reliable delivery windows.

Redding sits at the northern edge of the Sacramento Valley, right where the Central Valley gives way to the Cascade foothills, and the city's character reflects that transition — more outdoor recreation, more space, and a noticeably slower pace than Sacramento. Lake Redding Estates and Sunset Terrace are established in-town neighborhoods close to the Sacramento River and the Sundial Bridge, with standard suburban lots and easy truck access. Ridgeview-area neighborhoods on the city's east side back up toward the foothills and often come with larger, sloped lots.

Palo Cedro and Anderson, both just outside city limits, draw buyers looking for genuine rural acreage — horse property, longer driveways, and more separation from neighbors than anything available in the Sacramento metro. Shasta Lake City, north of Redding proper, is popular with retirees and outdoor-recreation buyers drawn to lake access and Mount Shasta views.

Cost of living is a significant draw here: Redding offers meaningfully more land and lower housing costs than Sacramento, which is why a large share of our clients on this route are retirees or remote workers relocating specifically for space and a lower pace of life, not a job. What movers actually face in the Redding area: rural addresses that GPS sometimes gets wrong, gated properties near Shasta Lake requiring an access code confirmed ahead of time, and longer gravel or dirt driveways in Palo Cedro and Anderson that occasionally require staging a shuttle vehicle rather than bringing the full-size truck all the way to the door.
