CORRIDOR NOTES
Distances and drive times are planning estimates. Exact access, timing and delivery details are confirmed for each address before the move.
The move from Stockton to Sacramento is one of the shortest long-distance routes we run, but we treat it with the same care as any interstate haul. From Stockton we load once and roll north on I-5, or take CA-99 through Lodi, Galt and Elk Grove, and drop straight into the Sacramento area - a run of roughly 48 miles that takes under an hour with a clear freeway. Because the two cities sit in the same Central Valley corridor, most Stockton-to-Sacramento moves are completed the same day.
Murdock’s Moving & Storage handles this route on our own USDOT and CPUC authority. That means the crew that wraps your furniture in Stockton is the same crew that unloads it in Sacramento - no broker in the middle, no swapping trucks or transferring your belongings to a stranger's trailer at a terminal. One truck, one flat-rate quote, one accountable team from your Stockton door to your new place in the capital region.

DESTINATION BRIEF
Sacramento is California's state capital and the anchor of a fast-growing metro that has absorbed years of Bay Area overflow. For someone leaving Stockton, the draw is a bigger job market - state government, healthcare, UC Davis Health and a growing tech and startup scene - paired with a genuinely urban core. Midtown and East Sacramento offer walkable, tree-lined grids of Craftsman bungalows, farm-to-fork restaurants and the Sunday markets that gave the city its 'America's Farm-to-Fork Capital' reputation.
Where you land shapes the move. Downtown and Midtown mean apartments, tight streets and permit parking, so our crews plan loading windows and often shuttle from the truck. Families more often head for the suburbs - Elk Grove, Natomas, Folsom and Roseville - where the homes are newer, the garages are bigger and a full-size van can pull right up to the door. The American and Sacramento Rivers, the Delta and easy weekend runs to Tahoe and Napa are all part of the trade-up.
Because Sacramento is only about 48 miles from Stockton, many clients keep the same jobs or family ties and simply move up the valley for more opportunity and city amenities. That short distance keeps the move affordable and lets us schedule around your work week without a multi-day transit gap.
