The Stockton-to-Chico route carries you the length of the northern Sacramento Valley. We load in Stockton and head north on State Route 99 through Lodi, past Sacramento and up through Yuba City and Gridley before rolling into Chico - about 140 miles and roughly two and a half to three hours of driving. It is a comfortable one-day move, with the flat valley freeway making for an easy, predictable haul.

Chico is Northern California's classic college town, built around California State University, Chico and the sprawling green ribbon of Bidwell Park - one of the largest municipal parks in the country, threaded by Big Chico Creek and shaded by valley oaks. For someone leaving Stockton, the trade is a walkable, bike-friendly downtown, a lively arts and music scene and the foothills of the Sierra rising just to the east, all at a size that feels far less congested than a big Central Valley city.
The community has also rebuilt and grown since the 2018 Camp Fire brought many displaced Paradise and Magalia residents down into Chico, tightening the housing market and expanding new construction on the north and east sides. Popular areas include the historic Avenues near campus, California Park around its lake, the newer Meriam Park and Doe Mill developments, and quieter Durham just south of town. Most Chico homes are single-family with driveways, so our trucks generally load and unload curbside without shuttle complications - though the tighter streets of the older Avenues sometimes call for careful truck placement.
At around 140 miles from Stockton, this is still a same-region move up the valley, letting you keep NorCal ties while trading city bustle for a foothill-edged university town with real outdoor access.
