The haul from Tucson to Chico is roughly 960 miles and a solid 14 hours of driving, so Murdock’s Moving & Storage plans it as a two-to-three-day interstate run. Our truck leaves Tucson on I-10 West, climbing out of the Sonoran Desert and through metro Phoenix before crossing the Colorado River into California near Blythe. From there the route cuts up through the Coachella Valley and around the Los Angeles basin onto I-5 North, then climbs the length of the Central Valley on I-5 and CA-99 through Bakersfield, Fresno, and Sacramento before the final stretch north to Chico.

Chico is the anchor of Butte County and one of Northern California's classic college towns, built around California State University, Chico and a genuinely walkable downtown of brick storefronts, coffee houses, and the Thursday Night Market. After the desert heat and sprawl of Tucson, many newcomers are struck by how green and tree-shaded Chico feels, and by 3,600-acre Bidwell Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the country, running from downtown up into the foothills with swimming holes, trails, and Big Chico Creek.
Move-in usually lands people in one of a handful of areas: the historic Avenues and downtown for walkability and older homes, the Esplanade corridor, family-friendly east Chico near the university and Canyon Oaks, or the newer subdivisions off Bruce Road and in nearby neighborhoods. The town also anchors the region's ongoing recovery and rebuilding after the 2018 Camp Fire that struck neighboring Paradise, and housing demand has stayed strong as a result. A Chico move is typically a house-to-house delivery on quieter streets, so our crew handles stairs, mature-tree driveways, and older homes with narrow doorways.
