Chico to Stockton runs about 140 miles down Highway 99, the same corridor Murdock’s uses for Sacramento, Fresno, and points south — through Yuba City, Sacramento, and Lodi's wine country before reaching Stockton at the edge of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. At roughly 2.5-3 hours of driving, it's a comfortable same-day route, and Murdock’s typically loads in Chico in the morning and delivers in Stockton the same afternoon.

The Delta setting adds a wrinkle the rest of the 99 corridor doesn't have: parts of Stockton and the surrounding communities sit near waterways and levees, and some neighborhoods — particularly around the Delta and in older parts of downtown — see seasonal ground fog off the water in addition to the Valley's usual tule fog in winter. Weston Ranch, on the south side, is newer construction popular with commuter families. The Delta itself adds a lifestyle option most Central Valley cities don't have — waterfront and houseboat living in communities just outside the city, a genuine draw for people who grew up around Northern California's lakes and rivers and want water access without a coastal price tag.
