Washington → Chico. One Move Plan.

The haul from Washington, DC to Chico is one of the longer runs we make, covering roughly 2,920 miles and 42 to 44 hours behind the wheel. Our crews leave the capital region on I-270 and connect to I-70 West through the Alleghenies, then pick up I-76 and I-80 for the long middle stretch across Ohio, the Great Plains and Wyoming past Cheyenne. From Reno the road climbs Donner Summit over the Sierra Nevada, drops into the Sacramento Valley, and the final leg runs north up Highway 99 through the orchards into Chico.

Your shipment is never handed off to a broker, dropped at a warehouse dock, or consolidated with strangers' boxes. Chico is our home yard, so the crew knows the town, the campus-area streets and the foothill neighborhoods firsthand. Chico is a college town at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, built around California State University, Chico and anchored by one of the country's great urban green spaces, the 3,600-acre Bidwell Park that stretches from downtown up into the foothills. For someone leaving Washington, DC, the change of pace is the whole point: you trade a dense, fast, expensive metro for a walkable downtown, tree-shaded streets, farmers markets and easy access to the Sierra foothills and the Sacramento River.

Where you land shapes the move. Downtown and the Avenues near the university draw people who want historic craftsman homes within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Established neighborhoods like California Park and the area around Bidwell Park suit families wanting mature trees and parkland at the doorstep. Newer subdivisions on the north and east edges of town offer larger lots and modern construction, and the neighboring foothill communities of Paradise and Magalia continue to rebuild and grow after the 2018 Camp Fire. Our crews handle all of it, from a downtown bungalow to a new build out toward the foothills.

Practically, a move into Chico is easier on the logistics than a big-city delivery, but the older downtown streets and campus-area homes can mean stairs, narrow driveways or a longer carry. We scope the destination when we book so the crew arrives with the right plan, and everything that left DC on our truck comes off the same truck here.
