Yuba City → Seattle. One Move Plan.

The Yuba City to Seattle run is the longest of our Pacific Northwest routes at roughly 720 miles, and Murdock’s treats it as the two-day haul it actually is rather than promising an unrealistic same-day sprint. We load out of the Yuba City yard and follow the same I-5 North corridor used on our Portland route — up through Redding, over the Siskiyou Summit, and through the Rogue and Willamette Valleys — but instead of ending in Portland, we keep running north across the Columbia River into Washington, through Tacoma, and into the Seattle metro.

At around 12-13 hours of total driving, this route requires an overnight rest stop to stay within federal hours-of-service limits, and we build that into the schedule up front instead of treating it as a surprise delay. Your goods stay loaded on our truck the entire way — there's no drop at a consolidation warehouse and no handoff to a regional partner carrier, which is common with national van lines on a route this long.

Seattle's close-in neighborhoods each have a distinct feel that shapes how we plan a delivery. Capitol Hill is dense with walk-up apartments and rowhouses where street parking is scarce and loading windows matter; Ballard mixes converted industrial buildings with older single-family homes near the water; Queen Anne sits on a genuine hill with some of the steepest residential streets in the city, which our drivers factor into truck placement. Fremont and Wallingford round out the inner-city options with a mix of bungalows and newer infill construction.

Most families relocating from the Sacramento Valley for tech or healthcare jobs end up on the Murdock’s, where Bellevue, Redmond, and Kirkland anchor the region's Microsoft and Amazon-adjacent job base. These suburbs offer newer construction and easier moving-truck access than Seattle's core, though home prices there can outpace even the priciest pockets of Sacramento. Renton and Tacoma provide a more moderate price point with a longer commute, while Everett to the north has become a landing spot for families priced out of the Murdock’s altogether.

Washington has no state income tax, which is often the first thing Californians ask about, and it's a real driver behind this corridor's traffic. That said, Seattle's housing costs and famously dense I-5 traffic through downtown are the tradeoff — something we plan around by scheduling delivery windows outside peak congestion whenever the drop-off location allows it. Whether you're headed to a Capitol Hill apartment or a Redmond subdivision, Murdock’s plans the last mile as carefully as the 720-mile drive that gets us there.
