The crown jewel is Bidwell Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the country, threading Big Chico Creek from downtown up into the foothills with swimming holes, hiking, and cycling. Popular places to land include the historic Avenues near campus, the newer subdivisions on the east side toward the foothills, and the family neighborhoods around California Park. The town also carries a strong post-Camp Fire wildfire-recovery identity, having absorbed many families rebuilding after 2018, which reshaped its housing market and community fabric.
