Murdock’s runs regular lanes to Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Fresno, Bakersfield, Redding, and Stockton under our own USDOT 3421940 / MC 1416634 authority, and we quote California moves outside those metros on request — get in touch and we'll tell you straight whether it's a good fit for our schedule.
Is a move within California treated differently than an interstate move?
Yes — intrastate moves fall under California's own regulatory framework rather than federal interstate rules, and we don't publish flat pricing for either; every California move gets a real quote based on your inventory, access, and distance.
How far in advance should I book a California move with Murdock’s?
For Bay Area or Southern California moves, 3-4 weeks out gives us room to plan building access and parking permits; Central Valley and North State moves (Fresno, Bakersfield, Redding, Stockton) can usually be booked with less lead time since access is typically simpler.
Do you handle high-rise or apartment deliveries in San Francisco or Los Angeles?
Yes — we regularly deliver into San Francisco and Los Angeles high-rises and multifamily buildings. Tell us your building's COI and freight elevator requirements when you book so we can reserve the elevator and submit paperwork before move day, not scramble for it that morning.
Will the same crew that loads in Chico or Yuba City deliver in California?
In most cases, yes. Because we run California lanes under our own authority rather than interlining with another carrier, your load typically stays with the same Murdock’s crew and truck from pickup to delivery.
